Turns out I don't need to buy another tow hook

Turns out I was misinterpreting what “accessible” means. I was thinking I needed exposed hooks front and rear when really all I needed was some way to tow the car from either end. My single factory eyelet is perfectly fine! The Mini is ready for Ice Time Trials! Now I just need to get my helmet from home...

Do you have a Mini or a MINI?

I have a MINI. All the cool photos on the internets are Minis though.

Good job of exploring the rules and finding you don’t need to spend any extra money. Although, having a tow point front and back never hurts. Either way, go and have fun and report back with some pictures!

Ah ha, the photos threw me off. You posted those tow rings, and I was trying to figure out where you would attach those to a classic Mini.

I stole the screw in eye hook from my e36 before I sold it to CarMax so I had 2 in my e46. I install both of them for track days so the tow guy will have options if the worst happens.

It wasn’t really checking the rulebook. I just posted a question about it in the SCCV facebook group and learned that what I have is enough. The first event is the 12th but I won’t be running until the 18th (I don’t currently have my helmet on campus). I will have to find someone to trust with my phone camera to get some good photos.

Get a sturdy phone mount that won’t vibrate too much and shoot HD video while timing yourself using Track Addict or Harry’s Lap Timer. You’ll be able to watch between runs and see where you can improve. Also the video is more fun to look at than stills anyway. You can film out of the front or rear camera(s) and the whole thing is super easy to set up.

If you’ve got a wifi or Bluetooth OBDII dongle even better as it’ll record gear/rpm/throttle with the video as an overlay.

Actually, My roommate has one of the little go pros. I’ll have to ask him if I can borrow it and if he has the suction cup mount.

You could probably just pick the classic Mini up and carry it out of the snowbank.

I have more spare GoPro mounts than Ken Block could ever want. I’ll mail you a bunch if you like. Thomas underscore Cannon at iCloud dot com. Send me a mailing address and I’ll get them in the mail this week. There’s one that resembles a big flat and very strong clamp that works great on a sun visor that I use. Not sure if I’ve an extra of that one but I’ll send you a enough that you’ll for sure be in business without too much creativity.

You can hang on to those for now. I don’t even have my own camera.
